Room L319 (third floor of the library block – you’ll find the lift by “Bean There” cafe)
When: 4.30 for 5pm until 6.30pm on Thursday 3rd September
Bring: a friend and a contribution to shared kai (finger food or drink)
Cost: Only your time
Be ready to: Actively participate and plan together, share knowledge, experience and questions,
Take away: Something to try in your teaching.
Since this is the first session in Hawke’s Bay it would be good to have an idea of numbers attending, so please RSVP to VAitken@eit.ac.nz
Hope to see you there…

Hi team

The next cluster meeting for the Waikato region, which was scheduled for 6th May has been postponed. However, keep watching this space as there are plans afoot for a session based on drama conventions to be held out at Te Kauwhata school soon…

Hello everyone,

A quick message to let you know that we will now have our first gathering on the 23rd of April, 4pm at Windermere in  Maharaia. It was scheduled for tomorrow but a number of us were not able to make this. Hope this suits everybody.

We will have a focus on planning and Omokoroa Point will share their journey so far.

Hope to see you all then,

Stephen

The Hamilton cluster meeting at Aberdeen school this week was a great success. It was great to see so many in attendance – we had about 15 there including an international visitor – Joni Warner from the US – (great you could make it Joni!). Participants enjoyed hearing from Michelle (a regular Mantle user), who shared her planning principles. Participants then  broke into two groups: one lot tried out planning for themselves and the other participated in a mini mantle designed to promote writing. It was very exciting to hear at the end of the meeting how every person was taking away something new to try in their classrooms. We look forward to hearing how you get on! Do share your experiences on our facebook page.

Next meeting of the Hamilton / Waikato  group is planned for Wednesday 6th May and we are all invited out to Te Kauwhata school – Thanks Vicki and team! The focus for that session will be using drama conventions for effective teaching across the curriculum… Watch this space for more information closer to the time.

Kia ora colleagues. The first cluster meeting of 2015 for the Hamilton region will be held on Thursday 26th February at 4pm  at Aberdeen school, Aberdeen Drive, Dinsdale in Hamilton. This will be a session on planning in Mantle of the Expert – good for beginners or a refresher for more experienced teachers. We will share and compare different teachers’ planning approaches, and consider how to plan taking into account   the core elements that make up MoTE. Many thanks to Michelle for hosting this session.

It would be good to get a sense of numbers, so if you would like to attend, please email Michelle at mparkes@aberdeen.school.nz. And when you come, bring a plate, and a friend.

Two cluster meetings were held recently – a fresh gathering of people in Auckland (thanks Raquela and Michelle for organising this) and a re-gathering of the faithful in Tauranga (great to see such a big turnout and thank you for the lovely parting gifts). Here is Raquela’s report on what the Auckland meeting got up to – along with a planning resource for working in the Commission model, as shared by Kineret.

Kia Ora,

Auckland MOTE cluster had its first meeting on Friday, thanks for those who were able to come. Kineret and Hilari shared some of their work with us. We went from the silk road in China to a retirement home across the road and were inspired by the creative thinking, student voice, and community interaction that is possible through MOTE.We are looking forward to our next meeting late January 2015. Watch this space for more details. Please find the attached ‘Commission Model’ Kineret kindly shared with us. Nga mihi,Raquela

Just making double sure everyone got this notification from Stephen – seems like some of the auto emails didn’t go out. Apologies if this is the second time you have received this!
